6902 Doosan Infracore has launched its new Stage IIIA machine-replacement 16tonne DX160W-3 and 14tonne DX140W-3 wheeled excavators.

The first of the South Korean company’s Stage IIIB compliant wheeled excavators, both new wheeled excavator models are said to be designed to increase profits through better controllability and productivity while optimising fuel efficiency. Total cost of ownership is said by Doosan to have been significantly reduced by maximising uptime through enhanced quality, reliability, durability and serviceability.

The new DX160W-3 and DX140W-3 wheeled excavators’ main pump flow has increased by 8% and system pressure has risen to 350-370kg/cm2. Bucket forces are claimed to have risen by 16% and arm forces by 6-16%. Meanwhile, the new models’ power has increased by 2%, with 12% more torque and a 10% increase in traction force.

Both the DX160W-3 and the DX140W-3 are said to provide new levels of comfort, ease of handling, optimum balance and high mobility for multi-tasking as tool carriers for buckets, breakers, pallet forks, grabs and crushers for excavating, handling, carrying and other applications. The machine pair are also said to be ideal for small to medium sites in civil engineering, utility and road projects, for applications such as digging trenches; breaking into rock, concrete and asphalt surfaces; setting up trench boxes; levelling; lifting pipes; moving pallets/materials and loading trucks.

The new Doosan wheeled excavators can move easily between job sites at speeds of up to nearly 40km/h. The low ground pressure is said to ensure that the DX160W-3 and DX140W-4 wheeled excavators are well suited for off-road and soft-ground conditions.
