Upgrade works are starting on the Ohio Turnpike in the US. The 386km Ohio Turnpike will benefit from US$226 million of improvements, upgrades and maintenance works.
Work on replacing two bridges will start in mid-2023 and will take until 2025 to complete, although traffic lanes will remain open at all times. Resurfacing will be carried out on one stretch, with at least one lane in either direction being open during the night (and more during daytime) at the peak of the operation. New free-flow tolling technology will also be installed as part of the work.
The project is being managed by the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission.
