Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV (HCME) has appointed Repa SIA as its new dealer for customers in Latvia.

Repa, who replace Laadur OU, was established in 1991 as a dealer for used construction equipment. The head office is located in Riga and includes a 280m² office and 600m² workshops. The company employs seven sales personnel, ten technicians and six administrative staff.

A subsidiary of the MONO Group, one of the largest enterprises in Latvia, and owner of companies specialising in highway engineering, transport and finance, Repa has been a distributor for 2833 TCM forklift trucks since 1996. The company has a subsidiary in Lithuania and partners in Estonia.

According to 233 Hitachi, the Latvian construction market has grown significantly since 2010, with increased sales across all product categories, namely mini, crawler and wheeled excavators, and wheeled loaders. The mini excavator market experienced the largest increase. Overall, this market is therefore thought to provide a great opportunity for 1139 HCME and its new dealer.

Repa managing director Yuri Ivanov said: “We are delighted to be the official Hitachi construction machinery dealer for Latvia. The brand is well known in our country, but there is still huge potential to increase market share, particularly in the general construction, road construction and quarrying sectors.

“We have 21 years of experience in the industrial equipment market, so we will initially start by offering Hitachi products to our existing customers. Our future strategy involves participating in domestic trade shows and exhibitions, working directly with potential customers and supporting customers with used Hitachi equipment.”
