Funding worth US$1.14 billion has been secured for the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge (BCIB) project planned for the Philippines. This mega-project involves the construction of a link measuring over 32km in length.

This funding tranche is being approved by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). This package has been agreed in conjunction with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The funding will be supplied in phases with the first package worth $350 million.  Because of the location, the new BCIB will be equipped with the latest Climate Resilient Bridge Alert Systems. Construction of the link will improve journey times for drivers, reducing the travelling time between Mariveles and Naic from 5 hours at present to just 90 minutes.
