US Department of Transportation issues FASTLANE grants

Grants worth a total of US$800 million have been issued by the 2364 US Department of Transportation (USDOT). The grants are for major intermodal projects. These are for Fostering Advancements in Shipping and Transportation for the Long-Term Achievement of National Efficiencies (FASTLANE) work. USDOT will issue the awards after the review period is complete.

A $44 million grant will help fund Georgia Ports Authority's Port of Savannah International Multimodal Connector project. A logistics park in Cedar Rapids for the Iowa Department of Transportation will benefit from a grant worth $25.65 million. A $10.67 million grant is being provided to the Cross Harbor Freight Program by Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. A $7.71 million grant is being direct to Maine Department of Transportation's Maine Intermodal Port Productivity Project. The FASTLANE grants will also help fund two grade separation projects in Washington State, with $5 million for Tukwila City and $45 million for work in Seattle.
