Romania has major plans for road development works. The country intends to spend €2 billion on road infrastructure works. Much of the necessary funding is being supplied by European sources.
A 16km highway section will be built in Romania by the Turkish contractor Makyol. The project is costing €382.3 million. The new link will connect Sibiu and Fagaras. Funding is being provided via Romania’s Transport Programme, itself 48% funded by EU sources.
