Italy’s Ministry of Infrastructures and Transports (MIT) is planning to spend €15 billion to improve the road network on the island of Sicily. Maintenance and upgrade works will be carried out on the island's important routes.
Key projects will be for the €1 billion road link between Agrigento and Caltanissetta as well as widening the state road linking Ragusa and Catania. Other important road projects for Sicily include work for the ring roads around Palermo and Gela and to the road linking Trapani, Mazara del Vallo and Marsala.
