Funding worth nearly US$420 million will help pay for road upgrade works in Tanzania. The funding package is being provided by the Tanzanian Government to the Tanzania Rural and Urban Road Agency (Tarura). This represents a considerable increase over Tarura’s budget of $119.5 million for the previous financial year.
Roads of key economic importance to Tanzania will be prioritised for improvements, maintenance and widening works. Major roads connecting the capital with the country’s larger towns and cities will benefit, as will international links connecting Tanzania with its neighbours.
