In Guatemala a budget of nearly US$305 million has been set for repairs to infrastructure that was damaged by the Hurricanes Eta and Iota. Road and bridge repairs figure highly in the work to be carried out. The Guatemalan Government has set out the plans for the improvements, which will help to improve transport and communications in the country.
Meanwhile, over the border in Honduras funding worth nearly $49 million is being provided for road works. The Honduras Government has sourced the funds for the work, with a significant portion of the financing being supplied by the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB). Repairs are being carried out to the 35km stretch of the CA-6 road that links Neteapa and Danli, with this work due for completion in June 2021.
