A plan is being drawn up in Brazil’s Minas Gerais State to privatise 1,400km of highway routes by 2026. The state roads that generate sufficient revenue to make them viable economically would be privatised under the proposed scheme.
In 2023 the 434km Varginha-Furnas corridor was privatised, with the 30-year concession package awarded to the consortium Consorcio Infraestrutura-MG. The 190km Ouro Preto-Mariana corridor will be offered for tender late in 2023.
