A new expressway project is being planned in Bangladesh. The necessary financing for the work has now been secured. A package worth US$260 million is being provided by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The Rampura-Amulia-Demra expressway project will be carried out under the PPP model. The new expressway is to be built by a consortium made up of China Road and Bridge Corporation and China Communications Construction Company.
The partners have a design, construction, finance, operate and maintenance concession for the new expressway. The concession is for a 25 year period and the 13.5km expressway will cut journey times from Bangladesh capital Dhaka to Sylhet, Narayanganj and Chattogram.
