However, some road projects may be threatened in the Punjab. As many as eight highway projects are facing cancellation due to unrest. The highways extend for a total of 293km and will cost a combined $1.74 billion. A further three highway projects have already been cancelled by the NHAI due to complications involving the purchase of the land required.
Meanwhile, the Kerala State Government has said it will finance the $199 million Outer Ring Road (ORR) for Thiruvananthapuram. The route will run from the Vizhinjam port at the southern tip to the Kallamballam Junction on NH-66, leading north to Mangalapuram Junction and Kollam. The project is being agreed between the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Capital Region Development Project-II (CRDP), and Public Works Department. Some of the funding will be provided via the Major Infrastructure Development Projects (MIDP) scheme.
