India’s Madhya Pradesh State is looking to improve the sustainability of its road network, as well as boosting transport links. The state has taken out a US$175 million loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The loan will be used to establish a network of chargers for EVs as well as to carry out road improvements using the latest environmentally-friendly construction techniques and equipment.
The plan calls for 500km of roads to be improved and widened, while better drainage and safety features such as guard rail will be installed. The routes will be reconfigured with more lanes so as to boost capacity and further improve safety.
