Work on two bypass projects for Estonia’s second city, Tartu, now look to be delayed. Construction is now expected to commence on the bypass sections in 2025. Completion dates have yet to be set but the work will be delayed according to the Estonian Transport Administration.
A massive increase in the cost of construction, due to factors such as higher materials prices and higher wage demands has impacted on the projects. Additional financing will now need to be secured for the works, even though the plans are complete and the necessary permissions and approvals have been secured.
