Bidding is strong for a Chilean highway concession package. The 133km Route 78 highway links the Chilean capital, Santiago, with the city of San Antonio, located on the Pacific Coast.
Bidders for the concession so far include the firms ACS, Sacyr, Ferrovial and Acciona. The concession was previously held by Abertis but when this came to its end, it was opened to new bidders rather than being extended.
The route is expected to require around US$1 billion of works to deliver the necessary improvements.
