Bosnia: more funds for Corridor C5 work

Bosnia’s national road agency Autoceste FBiH has secured more funds - €869.2 million (US$1.05 billion) - for continued construction of the Corridor 5C motorway project.

The agency reports that 92km of Corridor 5C have been completed. The 700km-long European transport Corridor 5c connects the Adriatic port of Ploce in Croatia with Budapest in Hungary via Bosnia which has around 340km of the route.

Roads company said that in 2019, loan worth €971 million have been signed with the EIB – the European Investment Bank owned by European Union members, another €600 million with the EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) and €181 million with other financial agencies including the OPEC Fund and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.

Meanwhile, work has been underway on another part of the C5 in Bosnia, the twin tube Zenica Tunnel, part of the Zenica Bypass between Ponirak and Vraca.
