Bolivia is moving ahead with a major programme of road development and improvement works. The plan is intended to help boost the country’s economy by facilitating transport and trade.
A budget of US$2.05 billion has been set by the Bolivian Government for new road construction works. This is twice the sum spent on improving roads in Bolivia in 2021.
New dual carriageway links will be constructed to improve connections between the major towns. Roads that are unmade at present in the country’s more rural areas will also benefit from surfacing.
At present 15 key road projects are planned in Bolivia, while work is to be completed on nine projects. Maintenance and repair works will be carried out in a further 49 locations.
