Afghanistan-Pakistan road link funding

A funding package worth US$460 million is being provided by the World Bank’s International Development Association to pay for the upgrade to the Afghanistan-Pakistan road upgrade.

A funding package worth US$460 million is being provided by the 2332 World Bank’s  International Development Association to pay for the upgrade to the Afghanistan-Pakistan road upgrade. The plan is to boost economic activity along the Khyber Pass corridor in a bid to help return the area to stability. The source of the remaining $23 million needed for the work has yet to be identified however. Improving the road connection between Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul, and the city of Islamabad in Pakistan’s Peshawar region will help reduce journey times and improve transport safety.
