Dynapac is now offering the SD2550CS tracked paver, which is said to deliver high productivity and efficiency at a low cost/tonne. The machine is also fitted with Dynapac’s latest intelligent Pave Manager 2.0 control system, further boosting mat quality.
The company says that the paver has benefited from an intensive research and development programme and the R&D team has worked hard to improve a number of features on the new paver, which now has an improved operator work station and controls systems, lower total cost of ownership, and high paving quality.The paver has a redesigned dashboard with ergonomic controls and a camera system that provides the operator with a 360° view in high resolution of the working area around the machine. The layout is based on recommendations from operators, with simple analogue signs shown in a digital display. The smart screed remote controls have toggle switches for screed extensions and levelling cylinder function and can be used easily by operators wearing gloves. A key feature is
two paving parameters on the one screen. Other key tools include automatic programming of slope and crown and a materials calculator.
The machine has been designed to handle highway paving jobs up to 14m wide and has a maximum throughput of 1,100tonnes/hour. The heating system is powered by the machine’s onboard 60kW generator, which is said to ensure that the screed heating response is fast right across the full working width. Customers have the choice of different screeds to suit local conditions or market requirements. The Dynapac V5100/6000 TVE are tamper vibration screeds while the V5100/6000TVH are high compaction screeds and the machine is also available with the Dynapac R300TVE rigid screed. The R300TVE is a tamper vibration rigid screed with a basic width of 3m and can be extended using mechanical extension boxes to its maximum width of 14m. Hydraulic extensions that are 1.3m wide can be fitted at either end of the fixed screed, allowing variable extension by up to 2.6m. This screed is designed to offer a smooth surface finish due to its rigid construction.
The 15tonne capacity hopper is 2.6m deep and features a 1.3m wide material tunnel combined with a 500mm diameter auger system that is said to provide the smooth material flow required while paving wide sections. The paver can also be used with the new Dynapac MF2500CS material feeder, which can boost paving throughput by up to 30%.
Customers have a choice of Stage IIIA/Tier 3 or Stage IIIB/Tier 4 Interim emission compliant engines, depending on local regulations and the availability of low sulphur fuels. The paver is said to be economical on fuel due to the firm’s sophisticated Variospeed drive, which delivers optimum engine speed for all operating conditions. This optional RCE patented drive concept identifies the engine speed needed for a working application and adjusts the performance continuously. The computer controls the engine speed and this system is said to ensure fuel savings of up to 15%, as well as reducing engine wear. In addition this system can be retrofitted to any of Dynapac’s SD class pavers.
The hydraulic drive system features a thermostatic fan control to prevent overheating and the machine also runs on long tracks with 320mm wide pads that are said to boost traction and also maximise wear life. Meanwhile the firm has developed the Safe Impact system with hydraulic push roller, which prevents the paver from being bumped when a truck backs up to discharge into the hopper.
Maintenance is said to be straightforward due to the location of service points at ground level and the machine shares components with other SD class pavers from the Dynapac range, reducing spares holdings for dealers and customers.
