The Karachi-Lahore Highway measures 392km in length and is costing about US$2.89 billion. It is the largest transportation infrastructure project under construction in Pakistan at present.
Contractors are using XCMG units as these are well-suited to the tough conditions. Asphalt pavers from XCMG have been used to lay the base course as well as the asphalt layers. Additionally, the contractors are using rubber-tyred XP303 compactors that deliver a ground pressure of 545kPa and have front and rear wheel overlaps of 65mm.
