Productivity and power claimed for Hitachi’s new loader

Hitachi claims high performance for its new ZW140PL-5 wheeled loader. The new parallel linkage tool carrier model is said to suit duties such as loading and unloading materials. Highly versatile the machine is said to offer extensive load control as the lift arm provides parallel movement from ground level. Like all Hitachi ZW-5 wheel loaders, it has been designed to meet the requirements of its European customers. Key features include operator comfort and safety, manoeuvrability and easy maintenance. 233 Hitachi claims high performance for its new ZW140PL-5 wheeled loader.

Power comes from a 5.2litre, four-cylinder water-cooled diesel delivering 113kW for high digging performance and travel speeds, as well as good fuel consumption. The ZW140PL-5 also has a new hydraulic circuit for the combined operation of the bucket and lift arm for loading, and prioritises the use of the bucket for unloading.

Said to be easy to manoeuvre, the ZW140PL-5 has several features that ensure a smooth operation. Operators can use the first speed selector to set the travelling speeds for the first gear. This means it is no longer necessary to shift up and down during short-cycle operations. The inching pedal also reduces the travel speed of the ZW140PL-5 without braking, while full engine speed is available for lifting to load a truck.

Reduced fuel consumption means lower running costs for owners of the ZW140PL-5. The machine also has two work modes, suitable for particular tasks. In Standard mode, the engine speed is controlled, which allows for smooth and efficient acceleration during loading, regular operations and travelling on level terrain. The P mode is useful when greater traction force is required for heavy-duty excavation and travelling up gradual slopes.

A new HST control system helps to reduce fuel consumption by approximately 20% when it is used for digging. The new wheel loader also uses up to 18% less fuel when travelling. The new HST control system also enables a smooth transition between speeds, making it easier to manoeuvre.

Depending on specification, the machine weighs from 11.93-11.99tonnes and is equipped as standard with a 1.9m³ general purpose bucket with bolt-on cutting edge.
