According to Telvent, cities like Panjin and Beijing, which have managed to improve quality of life for their residents by reducing noise pollution and air pollution due to CO2 and facilitating city pedestrian and motor traffic, are examples of metropolises that have already taken the first steps towards the Smart City concept, in which sustainability, respect for the environment, and habitable environments for citizens prevail.
The company also points to a public transit prioritisation project Telvent is going to execute in the city of Urumqi, that will enable city authorities effectively to coordinate interaction between the new rapid bus network (BRT) and city traffic. This will enable priority to be given at any time deemed appropriate to public transportation over private transportation, leading to a maximum reduction in transit delays and unjustified stoppages, reinforcing the city’s road safety levels.
