Latvia has a serious road safety problem and it is getting worse according to the latest crash data. During 2020 Latvia’s road deaths hit 73/million head of population, a shocking increase from the 45 deaths/million head of population recorded in 2019.
This compares poorly with the 68 deaths/million head of population in Lithuania recorded in 2020, itself considerably higher than the 43 deaths/million head of population that is the average for the EU.
