Now in its fourth year, the project supports programmes of the American Traffic Safety Services Foundation (ATSSF) and the American Road and Transportation Builders Association Transportation Development Foundation (ARTBA-TDF) that provide scholarships for children of roadway construction workers killed or permanently disabled on the job.
To date, the project has donated $50,000 to the ATSSF’s Roadway Worker Memorial Scholarship and the ARTBA-TDF’s Lanford Family Highway Worker Memorial Scholarship.
3M makes its annual contribution by donating a portion of its sales of 3M Diamond Grade Fluorescent Orange Reflective Sheeting. The product enhances work zone safety with fluorescent and retro-reflective technology, helping it grab the attention of drivers during both the day and night.
This year, 3M donated a portion of sales during National Work Zone Awareness Week, March 23-27.
“At 3M we are committed to improving safety for roadway workers and motorists,” said Paul Acito, vice president and general manager, 3M Traffic Safety and Security Division. “We are proud to contribute to these scholarship funds, even as we work to create new innovations that we hope will one day eliminate the need for them.”
