Key road projects in Poland look set to move forward. A tender process will commence shortly for a project in Lodz. Poland’s road authority, 1361 GDDKiA, will start the Western ring-road tender process. Poland's Infrastructure Ministry will give the go-ahead. The project involves building under 29km of the S14 dual carriageway to complete the circle around Lodz. The project is expected to be worth close to €392 million in all. The first stage runs from the Lodz Lublinek junction to the Lodz Teofilow junction and measures over 12 km. The second section runs 16km from Lodz Teofilow to national road number 91 in Slowik. Deadlines for completion of the work are 26 months and 32 months respectively from the date of signing of the contract.
Meanwhile €184.37 million has been budgeted for road investments as part of the Eastern Poland Programme. This is intended to improve road links between regional towns and the national and international road networks. The towns of Bialystok, Lublin, Kielce, Olsztyn and Rzeszow are all eligible to apply for a portion of the funds. The provincial areas of Warminsko-Mazurskie, Podkarpackie, Podlaskie, Swietokrzyskie and Lubelskie also qualify.
