A new US$772 million highway for the city of Florianópolis in Brazil will help boost traffic flow, cutting congestion and also improving road safety. The project is managed by Brazilian highway firm Arteris, now owned by Abertis.
The new Great Florianópolis highway is intended to improve transport between Biguaçu to the north of Florianópolis, São José, and Palhoça to the south of Florianópolis. The new route includes four tunnel sections with dual tubes, seven sets of parallel bridges and 21 level crossings.
