Work on the A19 upgrade project in the UK has been completed four months ahead of schedule. The work has been carried out by Balfour Beatty and its design partner Atkins for client National Highways.
Around £65 million has been spent improving the A19 between the Norton and Wynyard junctions, increasing capacity from two lanes to three lanes in either direction, in a move that will also reduce traffic noise.
The work was originally scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2022. The new dual carriageway will reduce journey times for road-users in the North East of England, while also supporting wider economic regeneration in the Tees Valley region.
