New Russian ring road for Kemerovo

A new ring road project is being planned for the city of Kemerovo, in Siberia. The 90km stretch would carry the R-255 Siberian Highway around the city, rather than through it as at present. This is intended to reduce congestion in the city and also to reduce journey times for drivers, as well as boosting safety. The project is expected to cost up to US$979.5 million to complete.

Design work and the necessary feasibility study have yet to be completed. Construction work is intended to commence in 2020 with completion for 2024, although this timeline allows little margin for delay.
