The completion of a new highway in Mexico is expected in December 2022. The highway will connect Badiraguato with Guadalupe y Calvo and provide a new link between Sinaloa State and Chihuahua State.
Building the 140km road has proved challenging given the mountainous topography and the project will have cost US$117 million when the work is finished. Around 13km of the route still has to be completed.
Construction of the road is hoped to help boost economic development in the area, which has been regarded as part of the notorious ‘Golden Triangle’ for its connections to the drug trade.
