A Portuguese contractor has won the tender process for two road projects in Ghana. The work will be worth US$167.6 million. Gabriel Couto will improve a 66km road that will help boost transport to and from a gold mining facility. This is of importance for Ghana as the gold mining sector provides a major chunk of the country’s GDP.
Gabriel Couto has been working on the 67km Agona Nkwanta–Tarkwa Road, which is an important connection for Ghana as it will improve international transport in West Africa by upgrading the link with neighbouring Ivory Coast. The project is due for completion in 2024.
