A new six lane link road will help cut congestion around Thailand’s capital, Bangkok. The 6.5km route will link the Phutthamonthon Sai 4 Road and Bang Yai-Kanchanaburi Motorway. The US$180 million project is being planned by Thailand's Department of Highways.
The route will connect Nonthaburi and Nakhon Pathom to the North East of Bangkok. The project will help lower congestion and cut journey times for drivers around as well as in Bangkok.
Increasing urbanisation of the city's surrounding areas coupled with improving public transport will help reduce the problems Bangkok’s dwellers face on a day to day basis. The city is notorious for its chronic traffic problems as well as air pollution, with exhaust pollution being a major cause, and figures regularly in research highlighting the world’s worst cities for congestion.
