Atkins will carry out a US$60 million design-build contract for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). Under the terms of the deal the company will provide general engineering consulting (GEC) and construction engineering and inspection (CEI) services.

As prime consultant, the company will provide services for GDOT’s Office of Alternative Delivery (OAD) for up to five years under an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contract. Technical support will include assisting in the implementation of design-build projects located in District 1, which includes 21 counties in the northeast region of the state.

George Nash, CEO of Atkins North America said, “Focusing on OAD's mission to efficiently deliver numerous transportation projects and programs, we will leverage our experience and innovation to help improve mobility for motorists and freight which impact Georgia’s growing economy.”

In addition to the new contract, Atkins is currently supporting OAD with professional services on the I-285 Eastside Express Lanes Project, the I-285 Eastside Bridges Advanced Improvement Project, and design-build CEI services for the state’s northern region.

Georgia’s transportation network is facing higher demands and service expectations,” said Brad Dennard, Atkins Department of Transportation Business Unit Director. Atkins is part of the SNC-Lavalin Group.
