Meanwhile in New York City, one cabbie has earned praised for his honesty. A passenger accidentally left a bag containing valuables worth US$100,000 in the cab when taking a trip across the city. When the passenger realised his mistake, he assumed he would never see the valuables again. However, he reckoned without the honesty of the driver. Noticing the bag of valuables, the driver took the bag home for safekeeping and was able to return it to its rightful owner later.
However another of the city's cab drivers proved somewhat less customer friendly. When four men flagged down the driver in Manhattan and asked him to take them to the Bronx, he refused. The cabbie said his shift was due to end and the penalty he would have to pay his firm for being late would cost him heavily. As the men were already inside the cab by this time, he was legally required to carry them. A row ensued, which was then carried on at a nearby police station between the men and the driver. The cabbie next drove his taxi at three of the men, leaving one critically injured and the driver then fled the scene of the incident. He was later arrested by police.
