A rotary switch allows the operator to simply switch between the low and large amplitude. On a variety of applications, the high amplitude of 0.5mm provides fast and economical compaction. The lower amplitude of 0.2mm in the front and rear drums provides more sensitive compaction of thinner layers and minimises the risk of crushing aggregates. This delivers uniform compaction and a better surface finish, leaving the earthworks and subgrade unaffected, increasing the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of compaction work. Tandem models with this new feature are well-suited to work on seams or joints in maintenance and repair work in urban areas.
As in the past, the advanced tandem models BW 135 AD-5 and BW 138 AD-5 and the combination roller BW 138 AC-5 also provide low operating costs and high compaction power. The four-cylinder Kubota engine drives these tandem rollers which have a working width of 1.3m or 1.38m. The machines also have the integrated measuring system, Bomag Economizer, which helps to optimise compaction. The operator position is said to offer a good all-round view and ergonomic controls that allow the operator to work quickly and safely.
Bomag’s compact asphalt roller offers greater versatility
Bomag is now fitting its compact asphalt rollers in the 3-5tonne class with dual amplitudes. This new feature allows the BW 135 AD-5 and BW 138 AD/AC-5 models to be used for a wider range of applications.
