The Japanese authorities are investigating a crash that involved a large number of expensive sportscars last year. Six people were injured in thecrash although luckily there were no fatalities. The incident resulted in damage costing some US$4 million and involved 10 high performance cars, as well as one rather more conventional vehicle. Footage of the incident shot afterwards showed the damaged Ferraris lying along the highway, with broken body panels strewn across the roadway. An 11th vehicle travelling in the other direction was damaged by debris from the sportscars. Meanwhile in the Southern Italian city of Bari, a 5489 Ferrari owner was also captured on camera as he smashed up his vehicle in a fine display of poor driving ability. The car was trying to accelerate quickly past a vehicle containing the eagle-eyed camera user. But the driver accelerated too fast, lost control and spun the car into the roadside guardrail. The police were informed but the car had been removed from the scene when they arrived. A subsequent investigation traced the driver and found that the Ferrari had only just been registered shortly before it was destroyed in the incident.
