In addition to its new paving range, 1194 Vögele is offering improved screed technology for both European and US paving concepts. Designed for European customers, the new AB500 and AB600 extending screeds are designed to pave widths from 2-9.5m, while the VR500 and VR600 screeds have been developed for the North American market and for use with the firm’s VISION pavers. The VF500 features extending units in front of the basic screed while the VR600 has extending units behind the basic screed.
The upgraded AB500 and AB600 extending screeds feature a novel, infinitely variable single-tube telescoping system. These can also be equipped with various compaction systems, depending on the paver model and application. Pavement quality has been improved through new features including easily and adjustable hydraulic side plates, as well as hydraulic crown adjustment integrated as a standard feature and e adjusted from the screed console. Wear resistance of the screed plates has also been improved, the time required to heat up the screed shortened considerably, and the tamper geometry optimised. The new screeds have a vibration-damped middle ascent designed with low steps and an additional hinged step, as well as a low walkway.
The new screed consoles offer high-contrast four-colour displays for night-time use and a clear menu structure with new pop-up menus. Both the left and right-hand side of each screed can be controlled from each screed console. Vögele's new SmartWheel is a revolving controller that ensures pave width is adjusted precisely and two speeds are available to extend and retract the screed quickly or slowly by turning the device. High-power LED lighting gives the operator a good view of processes associated with the side plate. It has a light intensity of 1lx and illuminates distances of up to 1m.
