The machine has two sets of hydraulically-lowered rail wheels that use the dozer blade circuit to lift it clear of the tracks. The wheels can be set at 1,000mm, 1,435mm and 1,668mm widths, to suit various European rail networks.
Activation of the on-rail function automatically turns on all regulatory lighting, limits the working height of the equipment, limits upper structure rotation and activates a load monitoring system.
The machine drives through four hydraulic motors, controlled by the excavator’s standard travel system. Maximum speed is 25.6km/h.
The 8MCR Rail-Route weighs in at 9.6 tonnes and is powered by a 60kW
Mecalac has also unveiled a larger 10MCR crawler excavator, at around 10tonnes operating weight, and shown a prototype of a smaller 6MCR machine, which should make production within the next year.
