A new public road company is being proposed for Italy. The proposal is being put forward by the Ministry of Transport. The new firm would take over the responsibility for state highways, managing these routes that are currently under the auspices of Italy’s road concessionaire Anas.
Italy’s Ministry of Economy would take over the management of the firm, Autostrade dello Stato. This new company would be able to construct new state highways that would be open to concessions. However, Anas would retain control of Italy’s highway that are not tolled.
